Reply received.

The camp is available any weekend in April apart from Easter weekend.

The British nissen hut can be used as a classroom, will squeeze in 40 max, has a pull down screen for Powerpoint/slides/films and/or use the other open ended nissen for sheltered classroom.

Evening can use British nissen for socialising - there is a stove and CD player.

Barracks has 11 bunk beds at the moment but there may be more by April but there is room form camp beds. A stove will be fitted in October. There is room for a few camp beds in the Hospital nissen but will have to be careful with mannequins. Otherwise tent camping is OK.

We have use of a 30 acre field which is open at the moment but the owner is currently creating mounds of earth to form an arena. There are usually vehicles and tanks lying around which can be used - bb's and paint could be an issue but training doesn't necessarily mean live firing!

The Stanton shelter has an air raid sound/light thing which might be fun!

There is a minimum fee but they are happy to negotiate a reasonable cost per head as they are 'more interested in making repeat bookings'.

Meh, apart form anything else I'd be happy paying a fair price just to contribute to the camp's endeavours.

Paul mentioned that you'd emailed him when I just spoke to him about locations!

What's their set fee?

We could run this event as one of our 4 events next year.

Yes, definitely one of the four events. It has the potential to be a great weekend.

The 'published' cost is a minimum of £150 for 10 people. So, say a downwardly negotiable fee of £15 per head.
If we charged out at £30 a head for a weekend event it would be bloody good value for money, allow expenses to specialist 'bought-in' instructors, and it may even restore reserves that may be clobbered by Boryszyn.
My hope would be for a professionally run event, an interesting and fun weekend. Something distinctive and different to anything that has been done before.

Yep, sounds great. £150 is exceptional value! April will be good for camping too.

Would be nice to see if we can get all the period tents into camps, by faction. Anyone lacking a period tent can go inside the barracks.

Oh, and just to be clear - Pete has been involved in many training days so I didn't mean that those were 'unprofessional' in any way. In terms of content then Pete's stuff might be termed 'professional' (real knowledge, training and experience) and Yith's drilling as 'unprofessional' (incomplete knowledge and untrained). So a bank of 'Pete's' should be doing the training not a 'mate who knows a bit'.

In terms of professional organising - well, something along the lines of a 'work sponsored training/team building weekend' with scheduling, concurrent modules, and organisational discipline at a perfect location rather than 'some mates in a wood'. Something that can be sold as something special so that punters look at the forum and think 'fook me, that sounds awesome'.

No offence taken! If we can get people aboard with specific knowledge for each "army", we really can put on something memorable. Not difficult to organise either, once the right people are sourced. Great for team building as well, as you say Dave.

Too much time pussy-footing around the PBI-ers has left you all askew.

We're not offended easily here. Well, Guy is, but that's because he's an homosexual.

Let's see how often he reads this forum nowadays.

Any thoughts on dates?

I've looked at can't see anything thus far announced that conflicts - although clearly we would want to avoid Easter at the beginning of the month.

We ran Die Glocke at the end of April this year without problems so how about weekend of 24th & 25th April 2010?

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

Righty-ho.

17th/18th is good for Pete, Jay and me. Just leaves Stephen and Guy to agree?

Nope, no good for me. I'll be in LA. Which leaves 10/11.

I work every other weekend. Having said that, I have annual leave that I can use. Go with the majority and, if it falls on a work weekend, I'll put in a leave application. If we set a date early enough, it shouldn't be a problem to sort it out with my detailing office, as I put in my leave applications for 2010 in January.

Ah, that's kind of you Pete - blummin tricky for you working weekends whereas the rest of us don't give it much of a thought!

Given Stephen is abroad 17/18, 3/4 is Easter and Pete would have to book holiday for 10/11 and 24/25 and my preference is for the end of the month and Jay can do any weekend then that sort of automatically selects 24/25 with Pete having to book holiday.

Is that OK Pete? If so I'll check that with Guy when he surfaces sometime and in the meantime contact the camp with a provisional date.
